why does my needle keep breaking on my embroidery machine ?

Embroidery is an art form that requires a lot of patience and attention to detail. One of the most frustrating things that can happen during the embroidery process is when your needle keeps breaking. This can happen for several reasons, including:

 1. Incorrect needle size: The needle you are using may not be the correct size for the fabric you are using. If the needle is too small or too large, it can break easily.

 2. Worn-out needle: The needle you are using may be old and worn out. Needles become dull after use and can break more easily.

 3. Improper threading: The thread may not be properly threaded through the machine, causing tension issues that can result in broken needles.

 4. Bent needle: The needle may be bent, which can cause it to hit the fabric at the wrong angle and break.

 5. Incorrect speed or pressure: Embroidery machines have speed and pressure settings that can be adjusted. If these settings are too high, it can cause the needle to break.

6.The embroidery machine bobbin: If the bobbin thread tension is not correct or if the bobbin thread has not been inserted correctly into the bobbin.

So, how can you solve this issue? Here are the step by step solution:

 1. Check the needle size: Make sure you are using the correct size needle for the fabric you are working with.

I used for example, the Groz-Beckert DBXK5 SAN 1 Gebedur 65/9 Needle. I have had great experiences with this needle. it had a titanium nitride surface coating, also it have a higher hardness than with standard needles.

2. Replace the needle: If the needle is worn out, replace it with a new one.The standard needles have a lifetime round about 10 hours, before you need to change it.

3. Check the threading: Ensure that the thread is properly threaded through the machine, and the tension is correctly set.

 4. Check the needle for bending: If the needle is bent, replace it with a new one.

 5. Adjust the speed and pressure settings: Try reducing the speed and pressure settings to see if that reduces the number of needle breaks.

6. insert the bobbin thread correctly and check that the tension is correct. the tension should be set at 150 and 190.

By following these steps, you can help reduce the number of needle breaks during embroidery. Remember, patience is key when it comes to embroidery, so take your time, and don't rush the process.
